Job Description:
Olympics.com is seeking to fill a temporary MCR Technical Supervisor position within the Technical Operations department.
At the core of the station’s technical facilities, the MCR Technical Supervisor supervises the team responsible for technical quality during the acquisition, processing and delivery of live and recorded media content. He or she ensures the operational stability and continuity from ingest all the way to the delivery of media to our digital platforms and linear distribution partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise the operation of the core technical facilities for the acquisition and delivery of all media content.
- Supervise quality control and relevant technical adjustments of all incoming and outgoing media files and streams.
- One of the responsible individuals for SPOC (Single Point of Contact) service, answer internal and external users platform issues by qualifying and allocating issues through OCS Ticketing System.
- Supervise monitoring of the content creation platform through operations support System.
- Supervise the effective coordination with all external operations to support live remote operations via satellite, fibre, or IP networks.
- Check technical reports on operational issues observed during transmissions.
- Ensure reporting of technical issues to the relevant departments or suppliers.
- Provide feedback to Technical Manager as requested and required on a range of topics including projects, the overall running of the MCA and reinforcement levels of operation’s agents.
- Any other duties as assigned by the OCS Operations Manager.
Skills, Requirements & Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a digital broadcast environment or IT support.
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification.
- Experience in a live TV Master Control Room / Network Operation Centre / ISP Operations.
- Previous experience working on help-desk or front-office environment, providing users support and categorizing issues is a plus.
- Familiar with broadcast tapeless environments with good understanding of operational activities based on MAM environments.
- IP networks (Streaming and File Transfer).
- Good understanding of digital broadcast standards, especially the compression file universe.
- Overall understanding and knowledge of IT systems: Networking, storage, servers, etc.
- Experience in common software broadcast systems like Multiuser editorial systems, NRCS, traffic, linear/non-linear, on-air distribution, subtitling, automatic quality control, transcoding, graphics, programmable integration platforms, content management systems, HSM subsystems, dashboard & monitoring workflows.
- Broadcast satellite communication technology.
- Strong competences in defining, analyzing, evaluating, configuring and monitoring quality control parameters associated to operational activities around audio-visual and/or IT operations.
- Fully familiar with video quality/compliance instrumentation (e.g. waveforms, etc.).
